Intelligent Dynamic Aging Approaches in Web Proxy Cache Replacement
نویسندگان
چکیده
One of commonly used approach to enhance the Web performance is Web proxy caching technique. In Web proxy caching, Least-Frequently-Used-Dynamic-Aging (LFU-DA) is one of the common proxy cache replacement methods, which is widely used in Web proxy cache management. LFU-DA accomplishes a superior byte hit ratio compared to other Web proxy cache replacement algorithms. However, LFU-DA may suffer in hit ratio measure. Therefore, in this paper, LFU-DA is enhanced using popular supervised machine learning techniques such as a support vector machine (SVM), a naïve Bayes classifier (NB) and a decision tree (C4.5). SVM, NB and C4.5 are trained from Web proxy logs files and then intelligently incorporated with LFU-DA to form Intelligent DynamicAging (DA) approaches. The simulation results revealed that the proposed intelligent DynamicAging approaches considerably improved the performances in terms of hit and byte hit ratio of the conventional LFU-DA on a range of real datasets.

متن کاملPerformance Improvement of Least-Recently- Used Policy in Web Proxy Cache Replacement Using Supervised Machine Learning
Web proxy caching is one of the most successful solutions for improving the performance of Web-based systems. In Web proxy caching, Least-Recently-Used (LRU) policy is the most common proxy cache replacement policy, which is widely used in Web proxy cache management. However, LRU are not efficient enough and may suffer from cache pollution with unwanted Web objects. Therefore, in this paper, LR...

Commercial Web caching solutions include CacheFlow’s Server Accelerator, Cisco CacheEngine, InforLibria’s DynaCache, Network Appliance NetCache, Inktomie’s Traffic Server, and Novell’s InternetCache System. These products differ in cache size, disk storage, and throughput. However, all commercial Web caching products currently on the market solely rely on the replacement scheme Least Recently U...
متن کاملA Framework for Using Neural Networks for Web Proxy Cache Replacement
Web traffic has continued to increase at a significant rate and is resulting in considerable strain on web servers and bandwidth providers, such as Internet Service Providers (ISPs). Proxy caches are often used to reduce this burden. In this research, a novel approach to web proxy cache replacement is developed. Unlike previous approaches, this research utilizes neural networks for replacement ...
متن کاملProWGen: a synthetic workload generation tool for simulation evaluation of web proxy caches
This paper describes the design and use of a synthetic Web proxy workload generator called ProWGen to investigate the sensitivity of Web proxy cache replacement policies to five selected Web workload characteristics. Three representative cache replacement policies are considered in the simulation study: a recency-based policy called Least-Recently-Used (LRU), a frequency-based policy called Lea...
